Impact Story

Soman, a retired employee of HMT Machine Tools Ltd. in Kochi, now runs a DTP Centre in Mulanthuruthy, Kerala. Though he was born with full vision, he lost his sight at age two due to keratomalacia caused by childhood malnutrition. Despite his disability, Soman built a successful career, including practicing law and later working as a telephone operator.

After retiring in 2018, he and his wife started their DTP business. They have faced life’s challenges together with courage and strength since their marriage in 1992. Soman is deeply passionate about using technology to empower the visually impaired and believes in the importance of computer literacy for their independence. He is currently enrolled in a computer basics course by RCGF, Kochi, with the goal of becoming a computer operator and trainer, appreciating the quality and impact of the training offered to the visually impaired community.
